Grass Prayer

Ian has refused to say the prayer at dinner time, that is, until now:

Dear God,

Watch over Mommy and the twins, and me, and Daddy, too. Please help the grass to not grow any bigger because it doesn't need to.

Amen.

From what we observed (you can see the picture), he seemed to really enjoy mowing the grass. I think the drawback is that Daddy's attention is directed to something other than him!

Chicks and sheep and goats, oh my!

On Friday (the most gorgeous day so far this season), we went with Papa to visit the animals where he works. The barn is always filled with baby farm animals, and Ian was excited to hold a chick, and pet a lamb and goat. We also saw donkeys, cows and ducklings! Last year he was a little tentative, but this year was a different story! In fact, at one point he even gave another little boy a body check so that he could get better petting position!

We felt the earth move...

but Ian slept right through it! We had an earthquake at 5:40 this morning that woke Dan and I up! We weren't sure what we were feeling, but we knew it was not normal! I actually suggested that maybe it was an earthquake, but the fact that we don't live in California made that suggestion not too believable. Ian had actually been awake a couple of hours before with a bad dream about a giant, but apparently, giants are more disturbing than earthquakes!!

1st Visit to the Dentist

Ian had his first official dentist appointment on Tuesday morning. He was very excited, especially after reading about Brother and Sister Bear's (Berenstain) experience! He was very calm, but did want to hold Mommy's hands while the dentist worked. The only thing that seemed to bother him was the light shining in his face, but that was easily solved with a pair of sunglasses from the dentist.

The report: cavity-free, and plenty of room for bigger teeth later! Woohoo!

Daddy's Helper

Ian LOVES his Daddy, and wants to be with him, doing whatever he is doing. We had a load of mulch delivered a couple of weeks ago, and he was eager to "help." We even bought an Ian-sized shovel, and they both worked really hard!
