Potty Update

WARNING: This post is going to talk about bodily functions. Just wanted to let you know in case you don't want to read on!

Yesterday, we had a HUGE potty breakthrough! Not only did he stay dry all day, but he went to the bathroom (#1) completely on his own and without being prompted by a timer! We actually even went out for ice cream in underwear! He also went #2 in the potty!!! This has actually been a major obstacle (though he has done it twice before), and we were ALL very excited about this! Our hope is that this is a trend that will continue.

We need to have him potty trained by the end of the summer for 2 reasons: preschool and brothers coming!!

Tummy Documentation

Okay, so don't get too used to this! Dan had to persuade me to do this, but we do have lots of friends and family that look at this blog from far-off places, and might appreciate a belly shot every now and then! It's amazing the difference 2 weeks can make! The first picture was 21 weeks, second is 23 weeks. The 23 week picture was taken tonight, and I think a lady at Kohl's this evening thought I was about to give birth. What I wanted to tell her was that I have at least 3 months to go (hopefully)!

Our Little Picasso

Ian is beginning to move beyond drawing just scribbles to attempting actual objects. I did call him "Picasso" for a reason... he has a very abstract approach, and most "objects" need some explanation. He is also getting pretty good at writing his name (it's definitely nice to just have three letters)!

I wanted to record his narration of one of today's drawings. Unfortunately, I can't show the picture here because it was drawn on a page of my appointment calendar! Regardless, I think it's worth recording...

Here's our house
Here's the front door
Here's a bat on top of the house (as in the flying mammal, not baseball - I clarified)
There's a cameleon walking by
There's Jesus
There's a cloud
There's the ground and sky
And now there's the whole world!
What do you think of that, Mommy?

Pretty impressive, bud! That's a lot to fit into one picture, and I love it!!!

Ski Ball Addict

I hate to admit this, but Ian has played ski ball two days in a row... and I think we've created a monster!! We went to our local "Fun Place" yesterday with some MOPS friends, and one of the moms broke the token seal. Up to this point, we could get away with a tokenless trip there, but yesterday's visit changed that permanently, I'm afraid! He is now completely addicted, so much so that he can hardly rip the tickets off the machine fast enough before grabbing the next token from mommy (a.k.a. token dispenser)!

As luck would have it, Daddy was taking the entire senior class there today, so we got to go again (if I was actually telling you this story out loud, you would be able to detect a bit of sarcasm). Ian turned into a bit of a show-off for the 18 years olds that were nearby. At the end as we were cashing in our tickets, several generous students gave Ian their huge stacks of tickets they earned while playing their games. His small stash of 20 tickets quickly turned into 385!! Basically what that means is instead of one small imported plastic toy, we left there with FIVE!!!

All sarcasm aside, it was a lot of fun to watch him be so excited about a new game and skill. He would lift his arms high in the air when he scored points with a ball. The challenge will be tomorrow when I have to tell him we will not be going there for a third day in a row!

Twin Update!

We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday. The babies are healthy, close to a week ahead in size, and unashamedly BOYS!!! Ian was right about the genders from the moment we told him about the pregnancy, so I guess we should have believed him!

I'm including a picture of the babies (Baby B is on the left, and Baby A is on the right). I had hoped to get a picture of them together, but they are already so big that they need a split-screen!

We are all excited (yes, even me... I'll have to let go of my girl dreams for now...). I know the three of them will have so much fun together!
